10,000 Days came this morning!

About fucking time, been waiting a while for this one

This is how the album looks when it folds up ('fascinating' I hear you cry)

This is how the album looks when you fully open it (L-R: 3-d glasses, alex grey centrepiece, sleeve and pictures)

Possibly the most interactive album ever. Beautiful little 3-D visualizer goggles built into the album case itself. Lots of clever, intricate drawings from Alex Grey that do crazy things when you catch them right, through the glasses. they fuck up your eyes a bit. In terms of the album itself, i've listened to it 3 times, but I'm waiting to listen to it with big over-ear headphones before i make more an informed opinion. sounds good so far though

Give it a rest luv':

isn't it

dontcha think...?

check this out, as alan and dan might say "sa-a-aaad"

Erm, since when did the Demon Headmaster look like this
Or like this even?

What is it about Phil Spector that reminds me of Professor Branestawm

Just like the Independent at the weekend.
Which cult actor is hidden within these cryptic clues?
Hint: I won't be Cross at you if you don't get it right

My Claim: Anyone can look fit dressed up as Lara Croft

Karima Adebibe (yet another Kirsty Gallacher lookalike)

One little Bone of Contention: the lara croft franchise strikes me as developing into a bit of a joke.

This is the new Lara Croft, former Topshop sales assistant Karima Adebibe, the 7th embodiment of LC. what was wrong with Rhona Mitra or Angelina Jolie? and would anyone kitted out in this get-up fail to be arousing?

A new band for the more open-minded of you to check out

"if Twinzero don't make one of the most beautiful, cathartic, soul-savingly wonderful noises on the planet then you can hit me with that badger again as many times as you want"

That quote isn't one of mine, it comes from someone reviewing a Twinzero gig at Nottingham Junktion7. This lot are "a who's who of demi-obscure English toilet-tourers", earthtone9 singer Karl Middleton's latest supergroup. go and buy the album here, very reasonably priced.

"tonight's gig was an extraordinarily powerful performance of punishingly heavy riffs, pummelling drums, soaring melodies and genius dynamics. It's all about the dynamics…really, it was more like watching a 40 minute symphony than a series of songs performed by a ‘rock band'."

"'Monolith' is epic, monstrous, bestial and beautiful - imagine a mutated, electrically powered offspring of Tool, Isis and a big fuck-off monster and you're just about there." (Rob you'll like this, go and snap up some My Ruin rarities)

Anyone for Psy-trance?

Saturday, April 15, 2006

After just hearing the new Primal Scream song my suspicions have been confirmed beyond doubt. They are just a Rolling Stones covers band (but with different words). U-decide.

What's wrong with this picture?

Yeah The Highway Code, I'm taking up driving again, having (literally) not been behind the wheel for 4 years. Seems like a waste of time to be honest, but it's practical.

Never had it in the ear before?

Lateralus conspiracy

I don't know if it's just me but I can't find the Tool album "Lateralus" anywhere online that isn't a £19 German import (on amazon). have mysteriously stopped selling it, as have amazon (i mean English copies). Next time anyone goes into HMV or an equivalent that you'd hope would stock it, check it out because I reckon something very dubious ('dubes') is going down. Apparently it sold 600,000 copies in the first week, and new album 10,000 Days ( is
set to do the same.

Contribute and go and buy it for 8.95, free delivery, the most eagerly anticipated first-listen I've had since Zwan (hmmmmmmm.. "dubes")

Only one of these people owns a Tool album, and it's not Lateralus.

Ta Rob

nothing hiding behind this picket fence

great discussions yeah?

Meta this, meta that y'all!

Ultimate highlight of last term at univeristy - Being mistaken for Adam Curson by an absolute stranger (ie someone who didnt know either of us to speak to, unitl we were introduced by a mutual friend)

Girl1: "Hiya, I've seen you somewhere before"
Me: One of "No you haven't" (bit curt) or, more likely, "Oh right, where?"
Girl1: "Erm, at Fresher's Fayre, are you into role-playing"
Me: "Steady on love"
Girl1: "Ha Ha (forced). No, like little model men and things?"
Me: "Ah, Warhammer etcetera?"
Girl1: "Yes, is that your bag"
Me: "No, of course not, don't be silly"
Girl1: "It's just that you look identical to he who runs the RPG society stall at Fresher's Fayre"
Me: "Oh this. Yeah, you're not actually going to believe this but I know that person, he's called Adam Curson, he went to school with me, had a rather unfortunate bowell condition, he's into Gathering Magic and stuff, and he has got long brown hair (though not as long), brown eyes (though not as brown) and a bit of spiv facial hair, but he's not me, and I'm not him"
Girl1: "No you're him, you are, you are, you are!!"
Me: "No, I can assure you that I'm not, nothing against the chap like, but no"
Girl1: "Have you got an identical twin then?"
Me: "No, I'm not a Sayer... {Girl1: mutters something} No, not Leo: Jono or Matt, 'Bloods 4eva and all that/Mighty Ducks'"
Girl 1: "Whoosh.." (passes her hand over her head to signal the standard)
Me: "Seeya"

Quickly exit
